At Peace Love Dogs, we are dedicated to providing exceptional dog care and enrichment, in a safe and fun environment for dogs to stay, learn and play, the peace love way.
Thirty years ago, our life was forever changed when I began rescuing, fostering, rehabilitating, training and rehoming rottweilers. These beautiful beings brought endless joy into our lives. Fast forward to today, our love of dogs is unconditional and encompasses all breeds. Currently our extended ohana (family) pack runs the gamut from 11 lbs. Havanese to104 lbs. mix breeds. We have finally found the perfect property for our four-legged friends to frolic. Our 4 acre spread sits on a large pond (great for seasonal water play) and is surrounded by miles of trails. We are excited to share this peaceful place with your canine ohana and blessed to serve the Lower and Mid-Cape communities. We are fully bonded, licensed and insured. Please review our services and reach out to schedule a meet & greet with us today.
At Peace Love Dogs, we believe that domestic canines are a reflection of the model we set for them. Our energy as humans has a profound and direct effect on our dogs.
While dogs can be directed to handle and react appropriately to uncomfortable human emotions and actions when professionally trained to do so, that is not the norm.
In very general terms, when humans exude respect, kindness and joy with calm and confident energy, the dogs around them will mirror that in their behaviors. Conversely, if you are stressed, anxious, angry, fearful, frustrated, etc., your canine will mirror those emotions, and it will eventually come out in inappropriate behaviors. Occasionally these behaviors appear cute or unintrusive. However, dog psychology teaches us that things aren't always what they seem. The truth is, the most difficult, yet rewarding part of our business, is helping fellow humans to understand how in most cases, they play a stronger part in their dogs behaviors than the dogs themselves do.
Our enrichment programs are designed to enhance the relationship between you and your canine family members. They are also designed to help you and your dogs as individuals. A relationship between dog and human is meant to be symbiotic; nurturing each other and bringing out the best in each other.
Whether they are spending the day, week or month with us; whether you are actively involved in their daily lessons, or simply updated on your parent portal, we strive to foster that healthy, nurturing relationship, each and every day that we are honored to be a part of the journey.

We treat each dog like our own, with love and respect. We support healthy socialization through supervised activities, which build trust, improve your dogs social skills and reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness. Socialization also helps prevent behavioral issues like aggression or fearfulness, since well-socialized dogs are more likely to be confident and well-adjusted.
Regular exercise can have a positive impact on dogs cognitive function. Just like humans, dogs need mental stimulation to keep their minds sharp. Engaging in activities that challenge their minds, like agility exercises and training, which we incorporate in our daily routine, can help to improve their memory and problem-solving skills. Additionally, exposure to new environments, sights, sounds, and smells during hikes can also keep your dog’s mind active and engaged. The American Kennel Club says regular exercise can even delay the onset of age-related cognitive decline, like cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CDS) and keep your dog’s mind sharp well into their senior years.
Physical activity is a great way for your dog to release any pent-up energy, which can help reduce their stress and anxiety. Exercise also releases endorphins in your dog’s brain, which promote feelings of happiness and well-being. Calm handlers create happy dogs. Our mental rejuvenation sessions, where our dogs rest in a calm space with us, while we engage in meditative breathing and some yoga creates a relaxing atmosphere reducing stress in both the dogs and their handlers.
One of the most obvious benefits of regular exercise for dogs is improved physical health. Since exercise helps to keep your dog’s muscles and joints strong and flexible, it can also reduce the risk of injury and arthritis (especially for senior dogs). Staying active helps their digestive system and reduces onset of digestive disorders. Plus, exercise helps maintain a healthy weight for your dog, which can reduce the risk of obesity and associated health problems. According to the American Kennel Club, regular exercise can benefit and help to improve your dog’s cardiovascular health by increasing blood flow and oxygenation to the heart and lungs.
We are consistent with our expectations and guidance, as we incorporate basic obedience training into our daily enrichment activities. Dogs are more likely to behave well when they consistently know what is expected of them and it is supported in a calm and confident way. Regular exercise and mental stimulation also improve canine behavior. Last, but not least, canines will learn positive behaviors from others in the pack who model for them.
If you have any concerns regarding your dogs health, please consult with their vet. We will work with you to design an appropriate exercise plan based on your dog’s breed, age, and overall health status to ensure the best possible benefits.
